Washington Academy

Washington Academy, located on the beautiful Downeast Maine coast, is one of the state’s 10 private town academies providing a comprehensive high school program of academics, athletics, and the arts that includes a rigorous curriculum of honors and AP classes while at the same time offering vocational, career and trades skills training and special education to students requiring more individualized study.

Since 1792, Washington Academy has served as an educational, cultural, and community hub for Washington County, the State of Maine, and New England. The Academy’s blend of high academic quality, varied program offerings, attractive, safe campus environment and affordability has made it a gem in the educational system of Washington County. The proof of this is in the school’s enrollment: more than 430 teenagers from 22 different Washington County towns and 13 different countries are part of the Academy’s rich and thriving community, bringing together a wealth of academic, athletic, and artistic talents in a flourishing, diverse culture. Graduates leave the Academy equipped socially and intellectually to contribute to their communities and the world.

Washington Academy offers an intensive 4-week Summer English Language Experience designed for students ages 13-19, or those in grades 9-12, who want to improve their English language skills.
