About Kents Hill School
Since its founding in 1824, Kents Hill School has been dedicated to providing young people transformative experiences rooted in the power of community, character, and core values. Students are coached through a broad curriculum of leadership development, academics, athletics, arts, and extracurricular activities.
Located 20 minutes outside of the Maine State Capital of Augusta and just two and a half hours from Boston, Kents Hill School is an independent, coeducational boarding and day school for grades 9-12 and postgraduate attracting 230 students from around the world. Our diverse International Program welcomes 80 students from 20 different countries including Canada, China, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, and Sweden.
The Kents Hill community is guided by the school’s ten Core Values of Leadership: Altruism, Compassion, Courage, Friendship, Honesty, Perseverance, Responsibility, Scholarship, Sportsmanship, and Tolerance. A student’s success is not measured solely by test scores or college acceptances, but by the relationships that they build and the opportunities that they have to experience, develop, and live the core values.
In a rigorous yet supportive academic community, Kents Hill School prepares each student to appreciate and value the joys and responsibilities of lifelong learning. Students develop a creative wonder of the arts, understand the beauty and fragility of our shared natural environment, and recognize the importance of diversity of thought and experience. Our curriculum focuses on the individual and supporting young people in reaching their fullest potential. Students engage through an array of College Preparatory, Honors, Advanced Placement, and College level courses.
The Kents Hill School experience extends far beyond the classrooms, dormitories, and athletic fields. On evenings and weekends our students can be found:
